Eye of the Needle

The only thing our little boy wanted for his birthday was dinner at the top of the Space Needle.

This was one of our parting activities before moving to Amsterdam, and although R was just three years old, the moment left a lasting impression on our little guy. Feeling like he is from "somewhere" has always been important to R, and we do as much as we can to help him stay connected to his hometown.

Therefore, Part Two of R's road-trip birthday took place in Seattle.  On top of the world.

Lucky us, to celebrate with A & R's two best buddies from Bainbridge!

R was totally caught by surprise with the smoking ice cream dessert and a giant stuffed dog.  He named the puppy Sandy Butterscotch (first, last name). The name Sandy is in honor of our old BI neighbor's Labrador who passed away recently.  We saw Sandy's human mom earlier in the day.

The ferry ride home was spectacular. You can see the Bainbridge ferry leaving Seattle in the photo above.  And below is the dramatic view of our ferry approaching the dock.

R has been waiting for years to be old enough to be required to have a ferry ticket over to BI.  You made it bud!  Six year old and up MUST have a ticket! Happy Birthday!!!!
