The Graduates

After our vacation in Provence, we headed to the Côte d'Azur where the kids I attended a two-week French language immersion camp.

We learned a ton. We did it in a beautiful setting.  We did it together.  And on Friday, we received our diplomas.  Graduation day!  Hats off to Abby and Reese.  Bon travail, mes enfants!

My petite class. We met every day under the olive tree:

Abby and Reese with some of their classmates, and at our daily lunch with teachers:

Many, many thanks to our hostess, Chantal, who opened her home and heart to us, and helped us practice our French along the way.

France is known for its rosés, particularly Provence.  I absolutely love a good rosé, especially a dry one (i.e. not sweet), and I was rather in luck because this is the region's specialty.  The stores start offering rosés in late spring, and they basically disappear at the end of summer.  In between, there is unbelievable variety to choose from.  Here's the rosé aisle at CarreFour, France's version of a Super Target:

On the night before our departure, Chantal treated us to regional aperetifs . . . rosé with cassis and rosé with grapefruit juice, served with a traditional onion tarte.  Mmm, mmmm.

Chantal, à la prochaine fois!  Merci!
