The USA came back in the last minutes of Friday's game to crush the Netherlands 4-3.  These two teams have only met four other times, and Oranje won every game.  In fact, the US only scored 1 goal total across all four of the previous games.  This was a very special match for United States, indeed.

But, truth be told, after living in The Netherlands for the past two years, we've kind of fallen in love with the place we call home right now.  I suspect we would have been quite happy with whichever team won.  We literally felt right at home in that sea of orange.  And we were so impressed with the sportsmanship that all the fans displayed.  What a larger-than-life lesson for these four little kids, to see the graciousness with which Dutch fans high-fived them, offering their congratulations.

For these reasons, I like the double meaning #orangecrush has for us. Because we really do have a crush on Holland. Friday evening was a memorable synthesis of our experience abroad, most especially because we shared it with good friends.
